Cultural Agreements have been signed between Mauritius and the following countries: India, Seychelles, China, Russia, Egypt, France, Mozambique and Madagascar.

 
 
Cultural Exchanges between Mauritius and Mozambique

Production-oriented workshop - 13 to 27 October 2003

Dance Creation – Wednesday 29 October 2003 at 1900hrs at Serge Constantin Theatre
 
In the context of the Exchange Programme on Arts and Culture between the Government of the Republic of Mauritius and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, two choreographers namely:
 

(i) Ms Rosa Domingos CHAUQUE; and
(ii) Ms Perola Jaime MATSINHE

 

from Mozambique conducted a production-oriented workshop from Monday 13 October to Monday 27 October, 2003 at the Serge Constantin Theatre for Mauritian dancers.

Cultural Exchange with Chi​

In the context of the cultural exchange programme between the Republic of Mauritius and the People's Republic of China, a troupe of 19 dancers visited China from 12 to 24 May 2004. The Mauritian troupe, Kanasuc, gave shows of sega and african dance, namely in Beijing and in Hunan Province. This is the third Mauritian cultural troupe visiting China. The first cultural exchange took place in 1996 when a local cultural troupe produced itself in Beijing.

Visit of Salman Alvi and Group from Pakistan from 8 to 12 April 2011
 
In the context of the Cultural Exchange Programme between Mauritius and Pakistan, this Ministry hosted the visit of Salman Alvi and his Group from Pakistan, from 8 to 12 April 2011. Salman Alvi is a reputed Ghazal Singer, winner of several awards, and has performed in various countries, such as United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, France and Germany.
During their visit, Salman Alvi and his artists gave three performances as follows:
(i) Friday 8 April at 2030 hrs - Gala Show Ghazal Recital at Serge Constantin Theatre
(ii) Saturday 9 April at 2030 hrs - Recital at PlaineVerte Garden, Port Louis
(iii) Sunday 10 April at 2030 hrs - Recital at Farmers’ Service Centre, Goodlands

National Spring Festival Celebrations 2012
 



 
Ningxia Art Troupe
 
The Spring Festival which marks the year of the dragon was celebrated on Monday 23 January 2012.
 
The Ministry of Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Federation of Chinese Societies held a Gala Show at Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles on Monday 23 January 2012 from 20 00 hrs to 22 00 hrs.

The show comprised cultural items by Ningxia Art Troupe from the People’s Republic of China and local artists of the China Cultural Centre.

The Ningxia Dance & Song Theatre

The Ningxia Dance & Song Theatre, Co., Ltd, (hereinafter as the Theatre), a branch company of Ningxia Performing Group was founded in 1958. After years of development, it boasts a great number of dance dramas featuring strong Muslim and local flavors, including the Mansuer, the Western Xia Fair Lady, the New Moon of the Country (Hui dance drama), Ningxia is a wonderful place, the Golden Kettle, the Scenery of Great River and Desert, as well as the well-renowned Huaer, a drama with total originality among others.
 
The Theatre has given performances in several countries and regions such as Canada, the US, Austria, Hong Kong and Macao SAR, earning its fame both domestically and internationally.

Huaer, the large ethic dance drama, which won a golden prize in the “2nd China Ethic Minority Drama Competition”, is the latest achievement of the Theatre; it has also been included in the 2009-2010 National Classical Stage Art Funding Program. In addition, another dance drama, the Golden Kettle, was rewarded the first prize in the “9th National Dancing Competition”.
 
In recent years, the Theater has participated in a series of major performances and great events, such as the Beijing Olympics, the Shanghai World Expo, the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2010 and 2011, and so on.

The Hui Martial Art Dance​

Dragon Boat Festival 2012
 
 
The eighth edition of the Dragon Boat Festival was held on Sunday 24 June 2012 at Le Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis.
 
The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional festivals that has been celebrated in China for more than 2000 years. It falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month in the Chinese calendar and consists of boat races where competing teams row their boats decorated as dragons to a finishing line.
 
The Ministry of Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and Le Caudan Waterfront has been organizing this annual event since 2005.
 
Nine teams participated in this year’s competition. The event started as from 11 00 hrs on Sunday 24 June 2012 in the Port Louis Harbour.
 
The finals was held as from 15 30hrs on the same day.
