Serge Constantin Theatre
History
The Serge Constantin Theatre located on corner Willoughby and Farquhar Roads, Vacoas is a prominent cultural venue managed by the Ministry of Arts and Culture.
Originally part of a British Military compound known as Trafalgar Hall or Garrison Hall, the building has been renovated and repurposed to serve as a platform for theatrical and cultural events.
Named in honour of Serge Constantin, a distinguished Mauritian painter, the theatre acknowledges his significant contributions to the local arts scene.
It is one of the few Government-owned venues dedicated to promoting performing arts in Mauritius. It hosts a variety of events, including national drama festivals in different languages sketches in different languages as well as performances.
It is equipped with modern facilities to support theatrical productions, including a stage seating for audiences, and technical equipment for lighting and sound. It serves as a vital space for nurturing local talent and fostering cultural expression.
