Mauritius is set to welcome the African Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025 from 27 September to 5 October, marking a historic first for the country. The event will bring together choirs from across Africa and the Asia-Pacific region in a celebration of musical diversity and unity.

In preparation for this major international event, the Minister of Arts and Culture, Hon. Gondeea Mahendra, met with Ms. Jelena Dannhauer, Project Director at Interkultur, and Mr. Michael Barrett, Artistic Director of the Games.

Discussions focused on the planning of the opening and closing ceremonies and workshops that Mr. Barrett will lead with local choirs to help prepare them for the international stage.

“This is a unique opportunity for Mauritius to showcase its musical talent and cultural richness to the world,” said Minister Gondeea. The Games promise to position Mauritius as a key hub for global choral music and cultural exchange.
