The Minister of Arts and Culture, Hon. Mahendra Gondeea, held a fruitful meeting with H.E. Kan Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, to discuss strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.

The exchange highlighted the rich heritage of both Mauritius and Japan, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to promoting cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration.

Both parties agreed to work together on expanding Mauritius’s cultural presence on international platforms, while also fostering deeper connections through events, exchanges, and joint initiatives.

“The future looks promising for our two nations, united by respect, creativity, and a deep appreciation for culture,” said Minister Gondeea.

In preparation for this major international event, the Minister of Arts and Culture, Hon. Gondeea Mahendra, met with Ms. Jelena Dannhauer, Project Director at Interkultur, and Mr. Michael Barrett, Artistic Director of the Games.

Discussions focused on the planning of the opening and closing ceremonies and workshops that Mr. Barrett will lead with local choirs to help prepare them for the international stage.

“This is a unique opportunity for Mauritius to showcase its musical talent and cultural richness to the world,” said Minister Gondeea. The Games promise to position Mauritius as a key hub for global choral music and cultural exchange.
