Egyptian Film Festival in Mauritius to Mark Africa Day
Mauritius will host a special Egyptian Film Festival this year to celebrate Africa Day, in a move aimed at strengthening cultural ties and showcasing the richness of Egyptian cinema.
The initiative was announced during a meeting between Minister of Arts and Culture, Hon. Mahendra Gondeea, and H.E. Abir Alam Eldin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The discussion also covered broader cultural cooperation, including plans for an Arab Cultural Centre in Mauritius and future art exhibitions.
“This festival is close to my heart. It’s a unique opportunity to build bridges between our cultures and offer new spaces for artistic exchange,” said Minister Gondeea.
He affirmed the government’s full support for such initiatives, emphasizing the importance of investing in the local creative industry and providing new opportunities for Mauritian artists and the wider public.
