Heritage Restoration Enters a New Phase

Heritage Restoration Enters a New Phase

The rehabilitation of several key historical landmarks, such as the Mahébourg Museum, the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, the Old Supreme Court, and Clarisse House, has entered a new and promising phase.

With the support of the Fonds Équipe France, a total of one million euros will be allocated to restore these emblematic sites that form part of Mauritius’ rich cultural heritage.

This project is being carried out as a national priority, with the close collaboration of His Excellency the Ambassador of France, Mr. Frédéric Bontems, and the active participation of organisations such as SOS Patrimoine, alongside several national institutions.

The restoration process is structured and thorough, aiming to preserve historical identity, modernise infrastructure, and make these cultural sites more accessible, engaging, and meaningful to the public.
