Strengthening Ties, Enriching Culture: A New Era in Mauritius–China Relations

Honourable Mahendra Gondeea, OSK, Minister of Arts and Culture, had the pleasure of welcoming Her Excellency Madam Huang Shifang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, during a courtesy visit on 25 July 2025.

The meeting was marked by warm and sincere exchanges, highlighting the strong and longstanding friendship between the Republic of Mauritius and the People’s Republic of China.

Discussions focused on future cultural collaborations, with the preparation of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU will cover, amongst others, key areas such as heritage conservation, national archives management, the cinematographic sector and artificial intelligence to support creative and cultural projects in Mauritius.
