USD 6 Million Donation to Renovate Mosques: A Transparent New Chapter

A significant milestone in Mauritius–Saudi Arabia relations was reached during a productive meeting between Honourable Mahendra Gondeea, OSK, Minister of Arts and Culture, and His Excellency Mr. Fayez Meshel Altemyat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The discussion focused on a donation of USD 6 million by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the needs and requirements of mosques in the Republic of Mauritius.

During the meeting, the modalities for the signature of the MOU were discussed. As such, the Honourable Minister highlighted that there was a great sense of anticipation from the Muslim community in Mauritius for this donation to materialize and the Ministry was, thus, supportive of the early signature of the MOU.

The meeting also explored new opportunities for cultural exchange between the Republic of Mauritius and the Kingdom Saudi Arabia, and the Honourable Minister emphasised that strengthening corporation in the field of culture and heritage will deepen the historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
