Building Bridges Through Books: Turkish Literary Donation to the National Library
In a gesture of cultural friendship, the National Library of Mauritius, operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, welcomed a remarkable donation of Turkish literary works during a special ceremony held on its premises.
The event was attended by Hon. Mahendra Gondeea, OSK, Minister of Arts and Culture, who hailed the initiative as “more than a donation — a powerful symbol of respect, identity, and shared humanity.” The donation, made by Mr. Ahmet Kemal Öncü, Honorary President of the Friends of Türkiye in Mauritius, includes works by iconic Turkish writers, including Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote multiculturalism and international collaboration through literature, arts, and education.
