International Mother Language Day: Celebrating Hindi at Aapravasi Ghat
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the Ministry of Arts and Culture participated in the ‘’ Kavya Sangam’’, organised by the Hindi Speaking Union in collaboration with the Aapravasi Ghat Trust Fund.
Within the historic walls of the Aapravasi Ghat, each poem recited in Hindi served as a bridge between generations, carrying the voices of our ancestors, their resilience, and their enduring spirit.
This special day highlighted that language is not merely a means of communication; it is identity, memory, and heritage. Through poetry, the event celebrated the richness of Hindi and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to preserving and promoting all ancestral languages that contribute to the diverse cultural mosaic of Mauritius.
