National Chinese New Year Banquet 2026 Celebrated in a Spirit of Unity

The Ministry of Arts and Culture organised a National Banquet on Friday 30 January 2026 in the context of the Spring Festival celebrations, bringing together representatives of Government, the diplomatic corps, socio-cultural organisations and members of the public to celebrate the Chinese New Year in a spirit of unity and cultural harmony.

The event was organised by the Ministry in collaboration with the Chinese Speaking Union, the Federation of Chinese Societies and the United Chinese Associations. The banquet highlighted the importance of partnership between public institutions and socio-cultural organisations in promoting Mauritius’ rich multicultural heritage.

Distinguished guests included the Deputy Prime Minister, members of the National Assembly, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Chinese community in Mauritius.

The evening provided an opportunity to honour the longstanding cultural contributions of the Sino-Mauritian community and to reaffirm the values of respect, diversity and living together that define the Mauritian nation.
