Official Visit of the President of the Republic of Seychelles to Key Heritage Sites in Mauritius
In the context of the 58th Anniversary of independence & 34th years as Republic, the Ministry of Arts and Culture had the distinct honour of welcoming the President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E, Dr. Patrick Herminie, to two of Mauritius’ most important heritage sites: the Aapravasi Ghat and the Intercontinental Slavery Museum.
The visit provided an opportunity to share with His Excellency a profound and defining part of Mauritian history, shaped by the experiences, struggles, and memories associated with indentured labour and slavery. These emblematic sites stand as enduring testimonies to the courage, resilience, and determination of those who contributed to the building of the Mauritian nation.
