Under the Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) signed between China and Mauritius, a 33-member cultural troupe from the Gansu Province comprising singers, dancers, instrumental and acrobatic artists, was in Mauritius from 13 to 17 February 2018 to give cultural performances.

The China Cultural Centre and the Capital Museum of China, in collaboration with this Ministry, organised an exhibition showcasing Chinese customs for the birthday celebrations of the elderly. The event was held at the China Cultural Centre, Bell Village.

A Carnival Floats Parade was organised by the Municipal City Council of Port Louis, in collaboration with this Ministry, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the China Cultural Centre, the Chinese community and Chinese Companies. The Parade started at 15 00 hours at Champ de Mars and comprised amongst others, a float vehicle of 8 meters long on the theme of the 50th Anniversary of Independence. The Parade ended at China Town with a performance by the cultural troupe from Gansu Province.

A religious ceremony was held at 09 20 hours at the Kwan Tee Pagoda. This was followed by the customary “Honouring Ancestors’ Ceremony”, which was organised by the Spring Festival Celebration Association at 11 30 hours at the Chung Shan Hall, Port Louis.
A Gala Show was held by this Ministry in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the China Cultural Centre as from 16 00 hours at the J&J Auditorium, Phoenix. The show comprised performances by the cultural troupe from Gansu Province.
